Abstract
V drugem delu analiziramo deset izvirnih italijanskih govorov s plenarnih zasedanj Evropskega parlamenta in tolmačenje teh govorov v slovenščino. V tolmačenih govorih smo opazili spremembe strukture stavkov.

Title:Domesticating and foreignizing strategies in simultaneous interpreting of political speeches from Italian into Slovene
Abstract:
This master's thesis focuses on domesticating and foreignizing strategies in simultaneous interpreting of political speeches from Italian into Slovene. The purpose of the thesis is to determine which strategies prevail. The theoretical part lists the main characteristics of simultaneous interpreting. Preparation for simultaneous interpreting and work for the European Parliament is also mentioned. Then, domesticating and foreignizing strategies are explored. First, we mention the position of Lawrence Venuti who was the first scholar to use this term. We mention cases in which it is better to opt for domesticating strategies and cases in which foreignizing strategies are more suitable. The choice for a domesticating or a foreignizing strategy is based on the speaker, text type, audience. Language combination also influences the choice of strategies. Some structural changes are essential for good interpreting, especially when interpreting between languages with such differences as Slovene and Italian. Interpreters should also pay attention to the register, figures of speech and levels of formality. Since the thesis deals with political speeches, the main characteristics of political discourse are also explained. In the second part of the thesis, ten original Italian speeches from the plenary sessions of the European parliament and its simultaneous interpretating into Slovene are analysed. Adaptations in sentence structure is observed in interpreted speeches. We also focus on interpreting English words and metaphors.
