Abstract

Title:The middle generation as the fundamental bearer of faith in the family
Abstract:
The Master Thesis entitled »The middle generation as the fundamental bearer of faith in the family« concerns mainly the middle generations. The first chapter is analytical, the second offers the possibilities of pastoral care of the middle generation, and the third chapter displays a model of a parish by opening itself to the middle generation and offers it personal, spiritual and religious growth. Pastoral care of the middle generation seems important, because if the parents are sincerely faithful, there is a possibility that their children will also practice religious life, as parents are the first and main teachers in life. The priest and the parish also play an important role in the pastoral work, as they enable the openness of the space for families. People need to feel accepted and welcomed. When they feel this, they settle down to make the parish their home and part of themselves. The middle generation must also show will, care and openness in all this. Increasingly, three groups are being formed. Those who are receptive and religious; those whose faith is a side thing and give their children the sacraments because they are forced away from grandparents; and those who are completely distant and not interested in religious life. It is important for all these three groups to inspire them each in his own way to proclaim Jesus Christ. At all pastoral events it is important that the foundation and first concern is the proclamation of our Lord Jesus Christ and not some indirect matter or perhaps even a person. The guide of all pastoral care is Jesus Christ, who says of himself: »I am the way, the truth, and the life.« (Joh 14:6)
