Ljubljena Toni Morrison kot postkolonialni roman: Obnovitev zgodovine in pomen spominjanja

Avtorica obravnava roman Ljubljena, afroameriške pisateljice Toni Morrison, in sicer kot postkolonialni roman. Po kratkem pregledu življenja in dela Toni Morrison, v diplomski nalogi predstavi značilnosti, zaradi katerih je roman preučevala kot postkolonialni roman. Nadalje pa v romanu analizira predvsem procesa spominjanja in predstavljanja zgodovine, ki ju prepoznava kot ključna za predelovanje travme nekdanjih zasužnjenih in kot možnost, da nekdanji sužnji, kot zgodovinsko utišani, dobijo moč pisanja svoje zgodovine. Najprej sta v diplomski nalogi analizirani temi samoaktualizacije in pomena skupnosti ter njuna povezava s spominjanjem, nato še temi ljubezni in materinstva.

• Title: Toni Morrison's Beloved as Postcolonial Novel: Reconstruction of History and the Role of Remembering

Abstract

The author deals with the novel Beloved, by the Afro-American author Toni Morrison, as a postcolonial novel. After a short overview of the life and work of Toni Morrison, the author presents her reasons for studying the novel as postcolonial. Further she analyses the processes of remembering and of presenting history, which she recognizes as key for the former slaves’ dealing with trauma and as a chance for them to write their own history. First the paper is concerned with the themes of self-actualization and the meaning of community and their connection to remembering and further with the themes of love and motherhood.
