Abstract
Misale hranijo ljubljanska Narodna in univerzitetna knjižnica, Semeniška knjižnica in knjižnica Narodnega muzeja Slovenije.

Title:Crucifixion Illustrations of Missals in the 15th and 16th Century
Abstract:
While studying woodcut illustrations, I focused on the Ljubljana area and on the most important full-page depiction of the crucifixion. The missals also contain other fine art elements that contribute to the final visual image of the book, such as: leather binding with embossed decorations, fittings, selection of paper and watermarks. The books are kept in the National and University Library, the Seminary Library and Slovenian National Museum’s library. I limited myself to the 15th and 16th centuries, as the woodcut illustration of that period has been somewhat neglected. With the introduction of printed book illustrations, the images lost some of their lustre and were no longer as attractive from the reader's point of view. However, this does not apply to liturgical books, given that they continue to represent the peak of book production.
