This thesis deals with the specificity and place of S. D. Dovlatov's narrative prose in the context of the third Russian emigration wave, studied with the help of terms such as "biographism", "fiction" and "faction". The three basic works analysed in this study are: the novels "The Compromise" and "Pushkin Hills", and the collection of short stories called "The Suitcase". The time span between the listed works allows us to observe the dynamics of the writer’s creative process. The first chapter focuses on a brief general overview of the theory of literary emigration, the history of Russian emigration and its literature, with a thorough focus on its third wave and a brief biography of S. D. Dovlatov. The theoretical foundations of the relationship between fiction and faction are discussed in the next chapter and they are used as a basis for the analysis of the mentioned works by Sergei Dovlatov, in terms of the relationship between fiction and faction and its subsequent involvement in the biographical aspect.
