In the master's thesis, we study the possibility of introducing land consolidation in the Municipality of Šmarješke Toplice. Most often, the initiators for the introduction of land consolidation of agricultural land are the landowners themselves, so the basic purpose of the task is to research the readiness of landowners for its introduction and what their readiness depends on. In the introductory part, we are acquainted with the problematic land fragmentation in the territory of Slovenia, the historical overview of land consolidation and the current legal basis for the introduction of land consolidation procedures. The implementation of land operations is also illustrated from the point of view of sustainable management of agricultural land. The empirical part of the thesis is based on the conceptual design of the land consolidation area of Nemški hrib in Municipality of Šmarješke Toplice. The analysis of ownership and land structures of agricultural areas draws attention to the predominant layer of semi- and non-farmers and the number of smaller lots on a 60.69 ha complex, which does not allow optimal use of agricultural space. The introduction of land consolidation would affect the fragmentation of these lands, and within the framework of comprehensive landscape management also ensure the existence of ecologically important elements in the landscape through the use of a network of field paths, the possibility of introducing other land operations and sustainable land management.
