Abstract

Title:Mechanical properties and porosity of biobased composite from woody cellulose fibers and nanofibrills
Abstract:
The goal of this research was to produce and test all cellulose composites from cellulose fibres and nanofibrilated cellulose. For the production of the composites we used three unique methods which were the result of extensive preliminary tests. The papermaking method was based on mixing cellulose fibres with nanofibrilated cellulose and forming a composite on the mesh, while the funnel and film method used already made cellulose sheets and coated them with nanofibrilated cellulose. For every method we made composites with different contents of nanofibrilated cellulose and tested its impact on the mechanical properties and porosity. We measured the grammage, thickness, tensile strength, porosity and tear resistance. The results were compared based on the amount of additive and method used.
