The purpose of this thesis is a presentation of software performance testing tools and comparison of three selected tools for software performance testing. Software performance is a characteristic that presents the behaviour of software under big load or stress. It is measured with different performance indicators such as response time, availability, throughput and capacity usage. Performance testing tools perform different measurements of these indicators. In this thesis, three tools are described and compared: JMeter, LoadNinja and LoadRunner. With these tools we tested the performance of an application for product purchase. JMeter is designed for more experienced users and offers the most options of testing. LoadNinja is the least demanding of the three but offers limited testing options. LoadRunner provides a variety of testing options and is designed for more experienced users.
