The share of the elderly population is growing both in Slovenia and elsewhere in Europe. The ratio between the older part of the population and the working population is thus increasingly unfavourable for the sustainability of social protection systems. To meet the challenges of an aging population, EU Member States have developed various strategies and measures. These are based on the concept of active aging, which is a multidimensional and integrated approach to solving the challenges that arise at all levels and spheres of society. Raising the retirement age is not in itself a sufficient measure, as it brings many other challenges that older employees, and consequently younger generations, face. In my thesis I study what these challenges are and how organizations face them in practice. In order to enable their employees to work longer and motivate them to want to do so, it is necessary to adjust the way of working so that it is more sustainable. However, there is no one solution that applies to all organizations, but each must develop its own strategy that will suit its employees and the culture and environment in which it operates. In my thesis I present some good practices of age management that have proven to be successful in Slovenian and European companies and can serve as ideas and inspirations for others.
