This master thesis deals with radio play (for children) in theory while relying on the findings of many medium theorists who were engaged in this artistic genre in Slovenia and elsewhere in the world. In the first part of the thesis, radio play is defined as a particular artistic genre with specific expressive audio features. In the continuation of the thesis, historical development is illustrated, and audio art is theoretically defined, followed by the examination of dramaturgical specifics and other aesthetic dimensions of radio drama script. Despite a long tradition the neglect of radio play is indicated in the past in literary science and based on the assumptions of theoretics predictions and presumptions are stated about the future. The second part of the thesis consists of the analysis of selected radio plays of Frane Puntar, one of the most important Slovene artists in the field of children’s radio plays. The interpretation of audio recordings of selected works is based on the findings of the radio play theory.
