Abstract
Največ uspehov so plavalci dosegli v kratkih bazenih.

Title:Result Comparison Of The Best Slovenian Swimmers With The Best Swimmers In The World In The Period 2011-2020
Abstract:
Swimming is one of the most popular sports developed under FINA organization. Around the world, municipal, regional, university, national and international swimming competitions are held in various formats and age groups. Swimming competitions can be organized in sports facilities approved by FINA organization. By 2020, Slovenia has won 100 medals in major competitions such as European Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games. Slovenian swimmers have been most successful in short distances. The period from 2000 to 2010 is called the Golden Age for Slovenian swimming. After numerous retirements of the best Slovenian swimmers, a big gap appeared. With the research, we wanted to find out whether Slovenian swimmers follow the results of international swimmers in the period from 2010 to 2020. The obtained data are presented as positive or negative trends of the achieved swimming times. We compared the average achieved times of Slovenian swimmers with the best swimmers in the world in 10 seasons, ranked from one to ten on the Slovenian and international swimming rankings. The analysis showed the progress of Slovenian swimmers in twelve out of thirteen events for men and seven out of thirteen events for women. The progress of international swimmers is shown in eleven out of thirteen disciplines for men and twelve out of thirteen disciplines for women. It is worrying that the progress of Slovenian women is only evident in the short disciplines. Slovenian swimmers still have a lot of room for improvement compared to the best swimmers in the world. An overview of the results of the last decade gives us a good insight into the current state of Slovenian swimming. The research will help the coaches of the top Slovenian swimmers in planning the training process. It would be interesting to conduct a similar analysis in ten years to see what impact the virus COVID -19 has on swimming performance.
