The kettlebell is a round metal weight with a flat base and a handle attached to the top. The kettlebell is a commonly used equipment, characterized by a specific movement called swinging. The use of the kettlebell developed into the sport called kettlebell lifting, which encompasses several disciplines. This master’s thesis focuses on the discipline called the snatch.
The purpose of the thesis was to thoroughly describe the competitive technique of the kettlebell snatch, and to present the methodology of teaching the snatch. An additional aim was to design a two-month plan, in which we focused on the progressive learning of the snatch and the preparation for the 12-minute military snatch test.
The thesis was based on a review of academic and scientific literature as well as practical experience. We have divided the technique of the snatch into six phases and described them in detail. For each phase, we have provided visual material, presented the muscle function during the snatch phases, and described the subphases. Moreover, we developed eight methodical steps for learning the snatch. The methodical steps progress through eight training units, which were evenly distributed over a one-month period. We also provided visual material for the exercises described, presented the most common mistakes, and gave strategies for correcting them. Furthermore, we created a one-month program for the 12-minute military snatch test. The program consists of eight training units based on an interval training.
