Abstract
V prvem delu magistrskega dela pregledno predstavljamo sloge in tehnike rimskega stenskega slikarstva predvsem zgodnje cesarske dobe.

Title:Conservation – restoration of the fragment from the wall painting from insula XVII in Emona, room II
Abstract:
The first part of the M.A thesis is dedicated to the relevant part of the Roman art from the whole empire. We have based our work on the works by Pliny the Elder and Vitruvius. We have also used modern literature, which is often based on the scientific research, and used it to verify claims by Pliny and Vitruvius about materials and their use for mortars and pigments. We have also collected results from scientific analyses which were done on the roman wall paintings from the Slovene territory and used them for overview of the most commonly used materials. After that we have described history of the fragment of the wall painting from the insula XVII (room 2) from Emona, which was discovered and save in 1963. This fragment is the subject of the later analyses. The second part of the thesis is dedicated to the conservation-restoration of the mentioned fragment.

Keywords:antiquity, roman wall painting, ancient pigments and plasters, scientific analyses of roman wall paintings, emona, insula, ma thesis
