In modern society, more and more waste is generated, of which about 80 % is disposed of and a small proportion of all waste is coffee grounds, that is about 32 tons a day in Slovenia, which could be used for energy instead of being sent to landfills or to be composted, as it has a comparable calorific value of wood. The great advantage of this alternative source is that it is a suitable for wider consuption and not only for industrial use, as incineration does not require additional plants to catch and purify hazardous gases. The diploma thesis describes the entire process of coffee briquette formation, from the collection of coffee residue and its drying, to pressing and final packaging. The made coffee briquette was compared with the standards for wood and non-wood briquettes.
