Abstract

Title:
Life satisfaction community nurses in connection with physical activity : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Life satisfaction and the role physical activity plays in influencing it is studied by many researchers. Physical activity represents one of the basic human needs and has positive effects on health. Ample evidence supports the positive effect of being physically active on physical as well as mental health. Purpose: The purpose of the diploma is to research the physical activity level of nurses within the community care setting and to find out if there are any positive correlations between their level of activity and overall life satisfaction. Methods: Quantitative research was conducted. A survey questionnaire was used as a measuring instrument. The research was conducted in June and July of 2021. Sixty nurses working in community health care setting in Slovenia participated. Results: The correlation is statistically significant at 1 % significance level between moderate physical activity and physical fitness (r = -0.486, sig. 䁤 0.001) and between intense physical activity and physical fitness (r = -0.619, sig. The correlation is statistically significant at 1% significance level between the statement "In most respects, my life is close to ideal." and intense physical activity (r = 0.428, sig. = 0.006), and the statement "My living conditions are excellent." and intense physical activity (r = 0.512, sig. The correlation is statistically significant at the 5 % significance level between the statement "In most respects, my life is close to ideal." and moderate physical activity (r = 0.318, sig. = 0.036), the statement "I am satisfied with my life." and moderate physical activity (r = 0.319, sig.= 0.035). Correlations are not statistically significant (sig. > 0.05) between claims about job satisfaction and moderate physical and intense physical activity. Discussion and conclusion: The results show that respondents are satisfied both in private life and at work. We have found that there is a link between regular physical activity and physical fitness. The survey has shown that respondents who are more physically active are not more satisfied in private life and at work. We have also found that the surveyed community nurses are insufficiently physically active. It would make sense to consider the causes of their insufficient physical activity.
