In the bachelor thesis we study reading recommendations and the web portal Dobreknjige.si. The purpose of the work was to raise awareness among librarians about the importance of recommending literature and to encourage creation of quality recommendations on the Dobreknjige.si portal. The importance of reading recommendations is based on helping readers to choose literature in the context of book hyperproduction, positive influence on the visibility of authors, and promotion of reading culture in wider communities. Some practices of recommending literature in Slovenian libraries and their shortcomings are defined. The Dobreknjige.si portal is suggested as an upgrade of the established methods of recommendation. Its purpose and basic organizational structure are presented. The significance of the recommended records in the Dobreknjige.si portal is also substantiated from the perspective of the difficulties that readers have in understanding the subject description of literature in COBISS / OPAC. Linking catalogue records and the recommendations of the Dobreknjige.si portal is offered as an option to enrich the catalogue. Finally, the recommended records creating procedure for the Dobreknjige.si portal is presented in the case for the area of the Municipality of Šentjur. The approximate population of literary works was determined based on the formal criteria of the Dobreknjige.si portal, and area restriction. The sample consisted of 32 titles by 20 authors selected based on subjective criteria. From the sample, 6 works by 4 authors were selected for recommended records based on personal quality assessment. The recommended records created in the framework of the bachelor thesis are a synthesis of the purposes of the work: they are examples of applications of theoretical aspects for librarians and a positive impact on readers, authors, and the wider community.
