We were interested in the publications of authors from Bosnia and Herzegovina (hereinafter: BiH), which can be found in Web of Science citation database. The purpose is to evaluate published documents of authors from BiH. We analyzed the state of research productions in BiH with the help of some of documents' characteristics. We used the simple query 'CU=Country/Region' and selected specific segments from the database in order to assess the data. The research was carried out as part of undergraduate studies at the Department of Library and Information Science and Book Studies of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, and took place in May and June 2021. We found that a particular publication can have multiple types at once. In the Web of Science Categories and Research Areas, we confirmed that most publications come from the field Engineering or more precisely from the Web of Science category Engineering electrical electronic. Most published documents come from the two largest universities, most documents are published in English language, most indexed journals come from fields of medicine. Scientific and research cooperation of BiH is conducted mostly with the neighboring countries (Croatia, Serbia). We also checked at the Emerging Sources Citation Index and found out how many such magazines and publications there are of authors from BiH who are not yet in WoS's regular series (JCR-Journal Citation Reports). We also briefly inspected the Cobiss structure in the country. BiH's priority should be to introduce a culture of evaluation in general and equally throughout the country. Scientometric evaluation should be based on best global and regional practices.
