The undergraduate thesis explores the impacts of floods of the Sava river on the villages from Dol pri Ljubljani to Dolsko in the early modern period, with temporal emphasis on the 18th century. It deals with the question of how and to what extent the floods and the immediate vicinity of the water in general affected the daily life of the local population and their agricultural land, which lay in a highly flood-prone area. Based on literature, maps and other archival materials kept in the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, with emphases on the Theresian tax cadastre and the fonds of the seigneury of Dol, challenges and problems caused by the river and the extent of damage caused by annual floods are presented. Ways of coping with the dynamic characteristics of the riverbed, such as the adapted use of agricultural land, various types of artificial interventions in the river and the measures taken after the floods are also presented.
