The purpose of the thesis is to show the course of the Dreyfus affair from its beginnings, when it concerned only military circles, to its development into one of the most resounding affairs in the French history. It tries to iluminate all crucial events in the affair, especially its turning point, when Émile Zola gets involved and achieves that the affair becomes widely discussed in public, and with that also becomes social and political.
In addition to the outline of main events in the affair, the thesis also tries to show its repercussions outside France, especially in the then Slovene lands, through the reporting of the Slovenski narod newspaper.
