Demographic changes in the population are predicting an increasing number of older people, as a result, the need for long-term care is increasing. In the context of (in) formal (long-term) care, private non-profit organizations also play an important role, not only helping the elderly with daily tasks, but also playing a key role in maintaining social networks and social contacts. Because the elderly often face loneliness, as the need for social contacts is among the least satisfied needs, I devoted my thesis to researching the role of private non-profit organizations in integrating the elderly into social networks in order to prevent loneliness.
In my thesis I included the program of the Association of Pensioners' Associations of Slovenia; Elderly for the elderly - Elderly for a higher quality of life at home and the international project Net-age (Municipality of Kanal ob Soči), the project Mobile Home or Mobile Against Loneliness, which operates within the social enterprise Z-Eniac and Association Sopotniki, association for Intergenerational Solidarity.
