Abstract

Title:The Ancient Matrix of Good and Evil through Heaven and Earth
Abstract:
In the text, we will deal with the ethical dimension of Hellenistic philosophy, within which a special form of physical religiosity was cultivated, based on the interaction between man and the cosmos. The relationship between the latter will be discussed through Plato’s cosmic theology, stoicism, and astrology, concluding with Ptolemy’s naturalistic project. The Stoicist philosophical school developed a spiritual system that allows man to change his most subtle type of matter (ie. soul) and thus break out of the (unpleasant) grip of natural laws that weave - at least as it was believed in Hellenistic-spiritual traditions - the fate of the individual. Therefore, almost in parallel with the Stoic systematization of experience on earth, the systematization of destiny takes place, which finds its ally in heaven. This is the period of Hellenistic astronomy and astrology, which deals with the individual and his experiential world through celestial phenomena. In this way, the individual receives a personal cosmic matrix between good and evil through the natal chart.
