This thesis focuses on how to make life easier for people who in addition to walking problems, suffer from less severe forms of dementia. The research phase shows quite a few symptoms that dementia brings, the most obvious of these being forgetfulness. In addition to the dementia facts, the research phase also points out the main characteristics that a suitable walking cane should have as an aid for walking problems. The review, data processing, and conversation with an expert led to the concept of a walking cane with the addition of appropriate color for easier perception, which in addition to solving walking problems encourages the person not to forget it.
Modern technology allows us to upgrade the walking cane and further alleviate one of the main symptoms of dementia. The concept of a simple smart bracelet, which is connected to a cane via wireless connection is suggested and it reminds when the person is distancing from the cane. These two products can significantly reduce the risk of falls and allow the elderly, despite the initial stages of dementia and walking difficulties, to feel relatively safe even when there are no relatives nearby.
