In my diploma thesis I'm dealing with exploitation of non-human animals. I connect them into biological interspecies hybrids, which I've named Metamorphic beings. The depicted animals are exploited for all kinds of industries or they are our pets. I'm intereseted in how – if even – these animal hybrids affect normalised speciesist perception. Speciesism is the practice of treating members of one species as morally more important than others, and it's also the belief that this practice is justified. In the theoretical part of the thesis I'm writing about clay, ceramics, their history and physical features. I also describe an important period of when ceramics was no longer only a craft but had an important part in fine art.
The basic idea of the thesis is exploration and experimentation with clay. I'm intereseted if clay shrinkage while mixing different clays with different characteristics affects the drying and firing process. I'm also describing the procedure making the hybrids, emptying, drying, firing and the cracking and mistakes that occured.
