Since its professionalisation in 2004, the Slovenian Armed Forces have been facing a shortage
of staff, which means that the number of employees has been declining. Professionalization
has led to the fact that the Slovenian Armed Forces must also carry out direct activities which
encourage people, especially young people, to find employment or some form of cooperation
in the Slovenian Armed Forces. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Slovenia and
Slovenian Armed Forces are trying to solve the staff shortage in various ways, mainly
addressing young people. However, these activities are in some cases more effective and in
some cases less effective, so it is necessary to carry out evaluations through which we can
evaluate their effect. If the Slovenian Armed Forces want to meet personnel requirements, the
interest in employment must surpass the interest about leaving it.
