Employee participation or participation in profit sharing is a practice that companies have at their disposal to distribute a part of the generated profit for the financial year among the employees in the company. More and more companies are aware of the importance of human capital, so they are looking for ways to further motivate employees and give them a sense of belonging in addition to the basic salary. One of the ways to involve employees is financial participation, which, despite being a good way to encourage employees, is not adopted by many companies in Slovenia. The reason for this is mainly unfavorable legislation or tax policy in this area. The empirical part discusses the aspect of management and employees to participate in profit sharing and their opinion on the impact of such practices on work motivation and company affiliation. Through interviews, I learned that employee participation in profit sharing has a positive effect on employee motivation at work and their belonging to the company. The employees agreed that the company shows them respect and that they are an important part of the organization. The obtained data also corresponded to the results of the TOBEQU-3 survey, which was conducted among employers and employees on this topic and with which I compared the data obtained through interviews. The empirical part thus confirms the positive relation between financial participation and employee motivation and their affiliation.
