Abstract
Vsebina diplomske naloge je predstavitev problematike nadzora, regulacije in spremljanja emisij izpušnih plinov, ki nastajajo pri izgorevanju fosilnih goriv v dizelskih motorjih, ki v ladijskem transportu prevladujejo. V zadnjih desetletjih so vprašanja, povezana z izpusti škodljivih in onesnaževalnih snovi v zrak, postala pomembna tema, ki je aktualna še danes. Zaradi prevladujočega položaja dizelskih motorjev v rečnem in pomorskem prometu se posamezna poglavja tega dela osredotočajo na emisije iz teh virov. Delo poskuša bralca sistematično seznaniti z vzroki za nastanek emisij, vključno s predstavitvijo in razvrstitvijo goriv, ki se danes uporabljajo, ter osnovnim mehanizmom delovanja dizelskega motorja. Poleg tega opisuje tudi kemično sestavo in zastopanost posameznih škodljivih sestavin izpustov, ki se sproščajo v zrak zaradi izgorevanja fosilnih goriv. Vključuje tudi uvod v regulativni okvir in posamezne predpise, ki obravnavajo to vprašanje na mednarodni in evropski ravni. Opisane so tudi ustrezne tehnologije za zmanjševanje emisij in načela spremljanja emisij.

Title:REGULATION, CONTROL AND MONITORING OF EMISSIONS IN THE WATERBORNE TRANSPORT SECTOR
Abstract:
The scope of this thesis is to present the issues of control, regulation and monitoring of exhaust emissions from fossil fuel combustion in diesel engines, which are predominant in the shipping industry. In the last decades, issues related to the emission of harmful and polluting substances into the air have become an important topic that is still relevant. Due to the predominance of diesel engines in river and marine transport, the individual chapters of this thesis focus on emissions from these sources. The thesis attempts to provide the reader with a systematic overview of the causes of emissions, including an introduction and classification of the fuels used today and the basic mechanism of diesel engine operation. It also describes the chemical composition and representation of the various harmful components of emissions released into the atmosphere during the combustion of fossil fuels. Furthermore, the work introduces the regulatory framework and specific regulations that address this issue at international and European level. Relevant emission control technologies and emission monitoring principles are also described.
