Abstract
Uvod: Ionizirajoče sevanje je oblika energije, ki lahko v atomih izbija elektrone iz njihovih lupin, kar imenujemo ionizacija. Prav tako ionizacija ustvarja proste radikale, ki lahko poškodujejo DNA, če nastanejo v njihovi bližini. Poškodbe, ki jih ionizirajoče sevanje povzroči, lahko tkivo do neke mere popravi z različnimi popravljalnimi mehanizmi, ko pa je škoda prehuda, pride do odmiranja celic, pri čemer se pojavljajo različne spremembe. Človeško telo je sestavljeno iz različnih tkiv, ki opravljajo specifične funkcije in imajo drugačne lastnosti, zato so na različnih tkivih posledice drugačne, prav tako pa so potrebna doza in posledični učinki odvisni od organa, ki je izpostavljen sevanju. Namen: Namen diplomskega dela je s pomočjo sistematičnega pregleda literature raziskati in predstaviti, kako ionizirajoče sevanje vpliva na različna tkiva in organe. Moj cilj je pridobiti boljše razumevanje o spremembah, ki nastanejo zaradi izpostavljenosti ionizirajočemu sevanju. Metode dela: V diplomskem delu sem pregledal literaturo in za predstavitev rezultatov uporabil deskriptivno metodo. Literaturo sem iskal v različnih podatkovnih bazah, v slovenščini ter angleščini in sicer od novembra 2020 do maja 2021. Rezultati: Po omejevanju člankov z različnimi vključitvenimi in izključitvenimi kriteriji, sem v skupni pregled literature vključil 18 člankov, iz katerih sem izpisal ključne ugotovitve. Razprava in zaključek: Posledice ionizirajočega sevanja so zapleten problem, ki je odvisen od različnih dejavnikov, kot so doza, obsevano področje, funkcija prizadetega organa ipd. Obstajajo pa tudi določene posledice, ki so lahko prisotne v vseh vrstah tkiv in jih posledično lahko najdemo kjerkoli na telesu. Glede na čas pojava sprememb jih lahko delimo na akutne, ki se pojavijo kmalu po obsevanju, in kronične, ki se lahko pojavijo tudi desetletja kasneje. Prav tako se spreminja tudi škodljivost teh sprememb, saj so nekatere zgolj nadležne, druge pa celo življenjsko ogrožajoče. Ne glede na obsevano področje, občutljivost organa in resnost spremembe, pa je zaradi teh sprememb skoraj vedno prisotna slabša kvaliteta življenja, zato je pomembno, da se ljudje ne izpostavljajo večjim dozam ionizirajočega sevanja po nepotrebnem.

Title:Effect of ionizing radiation on different tissues and organs : master thesis
Abstract:
Introduction: Ionizing radiation is a type of energy that causes ionization in atoms by removing an electron from its shell. It can also create free radicals, which can damage the DNA. The injuries caused by ionizing radiation can be fixed by our body to some extent, but when the damage is too severe, different changes can appear. The human body consists of different tissues that perform different functions, which results in different changes that mainly depend the type of tissue that was affected and on the organ that was exposed to radiation, since they have different dose thresholds and functionality. Purpose: The purpose of my diploma work is to explore how ionizing radiation affects different tissues and organs. My goal is to gain better understanding of changes caused by ionizing radiation. Methods: In my diploma work, I used a descriptive method to present the main findings of the literature I gathered. I have performed the search of literature between November 2020 and May 2021. Results: After filtering the articles by different factors, I obtained 18 articles that met the set criteria. After closer examination, I included the main findings from these articles in the results. Discussion and conclusion: The effects of radiation are a complex phenomenon that depends on different factors such as dose to the irradiated area, functions of the damaged organ etc. There are also some changes that can be found in all types of tissues and can therefore be found in any part of the body. These changes can appear soon after radiation, or even decades later. They can range from annoying to life threatening. No matter the affected area, the changes were mostly negative and lowered the life quality of exposed people, so it is important that people are not unnecessarily exposed to larger doses or ionizing radiation.
