The thesis begins with a short overview of the history of learning and teaching Slovene as a second and foreign language in Slovenia up to the present. Using the Web, I analyse the current situation of institutional learning and teaching Slovene as a second and foreign language in Slovenia. I research the availability of language courses on offer for adults with the help of a questionnaire. I am particularly interested in the types of courses, their participants, teachers and study materials. In the conclusion, I outline some of the challenges and opportunities connected to learning and teaching Slovene as a second and foreign language in Slovenia and discuss the changes in the field of learning and teaching Slovene as a second and foreign language since the last similar study was carried out in 2009.
