Abstract

Title:Usage of 3D scanning technology in tool making industry
Abstract:
When injecting plastic, in the cooling phase we encounter the problem of deformation of the plastic piece. The problem can be solved by adjusting the injection parameters, but in most cases the deformation cannot be completely eliminated. Therefore, in addition to using the ideal parameters, we modify the engraving of the tool in the opposite direction of the deformation of the plastic piece and thus ensure the appropriate shape of the final product. For successful tool correction, it is first necessary to measure the deformations of the plastic piece. In the past, a coordinate measuring machine was used. In this diploma thesis the use of a 3D scanner is presented. In addition to the measurements, the correction of the tool in CAD environment and then the physical modifications is also shown. The conclusion shows results that confirm that the use of 3D scanning is suitable for dimensional correction of plastic injection tools. After all, in one round of corrections, we moved all the measured positions within the tolerance range.
