The objective of this thesis is to set up and program safety systems on a robot line. The setup of the safety systems was part of the design and construction of a robotic palletizing line. In order to successfully complete the project and operate the machine safely, the following safety systems needed to be installed, wired, and programmed:
- safety light curtains,
- muting sensors,
- guard lock,
- safety controller.
The first chapter describes the semi-automatic process of the robotic palletizer. It includes safety measures that ensure the safety of the worker while working on the line, as well as additional systems required for a safe semi-automatic process.
The second chapter describes the principle of operation of the safety systems. It also includes important features and specifications of these systems that are important in the design of the robotic line.
The third chapter describes the assembly of the elements on the robot line. It also describes the electrical wiring of all safety elements to the safety controller in the control cabinet.
The final chapter describes how to program the PILZ safety controller with PNOZmulti Configurator software. It contains a description of programming with light curtain, muting sensor and E- STOP elements.
Some additional adjustments to the muting sensors were required to achieve correct operation. The project was successfully completed and the customer was satisfied with the result.
