In the master's thesis, we have analysed a type of lifestyle that strives to connect more with nature and is appearing together with the most pressing problems of highly developed societies. We linked the phenomenon to the concept of retrotopia, with which Bauman (2018) explains the rather popular tendencies of »returning to the future«, which he understands as a consequence of mass disappointment over socio-political actuality. The proclamation that there is no alternative to what it is and that it is fruitless to hope, that we can build a society which will provide real conditions for human flourishing, has not calmed the social spirit, as the burden of imperatives imposed on everyone by modern reality is often too heavy to bear, so says Bauman (ibid). Inspirations for appropriate modalities is therefore often sought in images of the past, with reality not usually a condition of their attractiveness. We researched in accordance with the principles of qualitative research, so in the discussion we summarize the key findings of eleven semi-structured interviews conducted in the period between 20.6.2021 and 8.7.2021. We included nine women and two men in the sample, who, judging by their subjective definitions, are quite connected to nature. Our research goal is to understand a phenomenon or rather a certain lifestyle in the context of the reality of modern society and its problems. We find that the phenomenon quite clearly expresses current social imperatives, but nevertheless also shows first signs of a sort of utopistic that is logical, necessary and welcome given the pressing global problems.
