Abstract
Diplomsko delo obravnava dve temi, pametno embalažo in termokromne barve. Inteligentna embalaža vključuje diagnostične in indikatorske funkcije, sledi izdelku v celotni dobavni verigi in poda informacijo o stanju izdelka. Podani so primeri aktivne in inteligentne embalaže.

Title:A presentation of smart packaging and persistence of thermochromic color on intelligent packaging
Abstract:
The diploma thesis focuses on two topics, smart packaging and thermochromic colors. The theoretical part presents smart packaging, which is divided into active and intelligent packaging. The active packaging reacts with the product, maintaining its quality during storage and consequently extending the shelf life. Intelligent packaging includes diagnostic and indicator functions, tracks the product throughout the supply chain and provides information on the condition of the product. Examples of active and intelligent packaging are given. Thermochromic ink used in the manufacture of intelligent packaging are also described. The experimental part consists of a survey and verification of the durability of thermochromic ink printed on foil, cardboard and textiles. We were interested in how familiar customers are with the types of packaging and if they know smart packaging. It turns out that customers are up to date with innovations in the field of packaging, but do not use technical terms. They know and use a QR code, for example, but they don’t know it falls under smart packaging. One of the main factors why not buy smart packaging that has additional visible components such as indicators is the fear of chemicals and that the contents are contaminated. Printing on PVC foil, cardboard and cotton textiles was performed with a screen printing machine in the printing house Mimo d.o.o. After printing, all three materials were subjected to various tests to determine: resistance to elevated humidity and temperature, resistance to light and resistance to dry rubbing. Color and metric properties and optical density of prints were measured before and after testing. Analysis of the results showed that the greatest impact on the durability of the prints has light, the least dry rubbing. Imprints on PVC foil and cardboard are also sensitive to high humidity and temperature.
