Abstract

Title:Analysis and use of business information system for the deployment of personal assistants
Abstract:
Ever since the Personal Assistance Act came into effect in Slovenia, numerous companies that provide the service of personal assistance to its beneficiaries have sprung up. One of the key work processes in personal assistance management is scheduling employed personal assistants onto weekly and monthly work schedules. However, some sector-specific scheduling problems have arisen. This diploma thesis first identifies these problems and then proposes possible solutions in the form of three different business information systems. Suggestions for the further optimization of one of these information systems are given. The theoretical section of the diploma thesis provides a brief introduction to issues dealing with disability as well as the historical timeline to state-funded personal assistance in Slovenia. Key concepts related to personal assistance are described. Possible problems when scheduling personal assistants are identified. The conventional method of scheduling personal assistants in Microsoft Excel is also described, and then a better solution in the form of a suitable business information system is proposed. Such a system should ideally better solve scheduling problems. The experimental section of the diploma thesis presents the methods used for the analysis and comparison of the selected business information systems. Also presented are the methods employed to create optimization prepositions for one of the information systems. Provided are the results of the business information systems' analysis as well as the results of the ensuing interview and optimization suggestions.
