Sodelovanje s starši v programu vzgojnega zavoda - perspektiva staršev

Abstract
V magistrski nalogi raziskujem izkušnje staršev s sodelovanjem v programu Svetovalno in terapevtsko delo s starši, ki so ga izvajali strokovni delavci Vzgojno-izobraževalnega zavoda Frana Milčinskega Smlednik. V teoretičnem delu predstavljam izzive starševstva v sodobnem času, izpostavim družbena tveganja za ranljivost družin, posledice te ranljivosti na družinsko življenje ter pomoč, ki je ranljivim družinam na voljo. V nadaljevanju se osredotočim na družine otrok in mladostnikov, ki so nameščeni v vzgojnih zavodih, in opišem, zakaj je sodelovanje staršev z vzgojnim zavodom za otroka ali mladostnika pomembno v času njegovega bivanja v le-tem. Izpostavim glavne značilnosti družin, iz katerih izhajajo otroci in mladostniki v vzgojnih zavodih, in najpogostejše težave, ki jih imajo njihovi starši pri vzgoji. Teoretični del zaključim s predstavitvijo nekaterih že ustaljenih oblik sodelovanja vzgojnih zavodov s starši pri nas in v tujini. V empiričnem delu naloge raziščem izkušnje staršev, ki so se udeležili programa Svetovalno in terapevtsko delo s starši. Program je trajal dve šolski leti, njegov namen pa je bil opolnomočiti starše, da bi razvili vzgojne veščine, izboljšali odnos z otrokom in okrepili starševsko vlogo. Zanimalo me je, kako so starši zaznavali dejavnosti programa ter kako se je z udeležbo spreminjala njihova starševska vloga ter odnos z otrokom. Raziskujem tudi, kakšni so njihovi predlogi za spreminjanje in dopolnitve programa. Za raziskavo uporabim kvalitativni raziskovalni pristop in metodo vsebinske analize. V namen zbiranja podatkov sem izvedla polstrukturirane intervjuje z enajstimi starši, ki so se vključevali v program. Rezultati kažejo, da starši dejavnosti programa zaznavajo kot koristne in da z udeležbo pridobivajo nove vzgojne in komunikacijske veščine, ki jih uporabijo v vsakdanjem družinskem življenju. Po udeležbi v programu svojo starševsko vlogo opisujejo kot bolj pozitivno in sproščeno. Pozitivne spremembe zaznavajo tudi pri odnosu z otrokom. Poročajo o zmanjšanju občutkov krivde. Zanje je pomemben sodelovalni in partnerski odnos s strokovnimi delavci, posebej pa izpostavijo pomen individualnih oblik svetovalnih pogovorov. Predlagajo pridružitev in večjo vključenost otrok v dejavnosti programa. Raziskava je lahko spodbuda drugim vzgojnim zavodom, da pri vrednotenju lastnih oblik sodelovanja s starši raziščejo tudi perspektivo staršev in s tem ponudbo bolj približajo njihovim potrebam.

Abstract:
In my master’s thesis, I study experiences of parents who have participated in the programme ‘Counselling and therapeutic work with parents’, which was carried out by care professionals of the Residential children’s home Fran Milčinski Smlednik. In the theoretical part, I present contemporary challenges of parenthood and expose the social risks for vulnerable families and their consequences for family life. I also present the help that is available to these families. Then I focus on families with children placed in residential children’s homes. I describe the importance of collaboration between the parents and care professionals. I expose the main characteristics of families with children placed in residential childcare institutions and their most frequent difficulties with raising a child. I conclude the theoretical part of the thesis with a presentation of various already established forms of collaboration with the parents both in Slovenia and abroad. In the empirical part of the thesis, I explore parental experiences of those who have been involved in the programme ‘Counselling and therapeutic work with parents’. This programme lasted two school years and its purpose was to empower parents to develop educational skills, improve relationships with their children and strengthen their parental roles. I explore how parents perceived the activities offered by the programme and how their parental role and relationships with their children changed alongside their participation. I also explore their proposals for changing and supplementing the programme. I use a qualitative research approach and method of content analysis. For the purpose of data collection, I conducted semi-structured interviews with eleven parents who have been involved in programme. The results of the study show that parents perceive the activities of the programme as beneficial and that with participation they acquire new educational and communicational skills which they can use in family life. After participating in the programme, they describe their parental role as more positive and relaxing. They also perceive positive changes in their relationships with their children. They report about reduced feelings of guilt. It is important for them to have the collaborative partnerships with care professionals. They especially reveal the importance of individual counselling conversations. They propose joining and involving children more in the activities of the programme. My research could also be an encouragement to other residential children’s homes to explore the viewpoint of parents when evaluating their own forms of cooperation with parents, and thus aligning them more closely with parents' needs.
