The thesis focuses on specific historical events during the existance of medieval Kingdom of Serbia (1217-1346) and the ruling Nemanjić dynasty, that over time developed in to historical phenomena. The term signifies all beliefs about one’s own history that lives in the collective counsciousness of a modern nation but are not based on objective evidence or scientific critical method. People have therefore excepted them as indisputable facts through a long tradition although there is no evidence of their credibility. The thesis focuses on the question how such phenomena influenced the development of serbian nationalism in 19th century, when individual nationalists, in order to prove their long national history, reached into the dephts of long lost medieval past to justify current national, political and territorial demands.
