The team Superior Engineering of the University of Ljubljana has designed and manufactured a race car for competitions in the 2020 season of the Formula Student series. In this season, we set a goal to analyze and measure the stiffness of the primary structure of the car Tabaluga for the first time in the history of the team. For this purpose, we prepared a simulation model of the primary structure in the simulation software Abaqus and simulated the most typical load case experienced by the primary structure and thus obtained a simulated stiffness value. This led to us designing a rig for experimental measurement of the stiffness and using it to test said stiffness. We found that the actual stiffness is about 25 - 35 % lower than the simulated counterpart, which can be mostly attributed to some manufacturing techniques of the primary structure as well as the accuracy of the simulation model.
