Introduction: The mindful individual has an insight into their inner experience, thoughts, emotions and feelings, which they accept without judgment and do not try to influence them. Multiple sclerosis, when diagnosed, drastically changes the quality of life of each individual and brings with it various negative symptoms that a person must begin to deal with. However, mindfulness techniques can be of great help to a person in coping with the disease. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to determine the results of research on the inclusion of mindfulness in people struggling with multiple sclerosis. Methods: The literature review has been performed eithuse of PRIZMA diagram. Articles published between 2010 to 2020 were searched and included in this review. The databeses: PubMed, Emerald, Science direct info, Hrčak, Web of Science have been searched with the following keywords: multipla skleroza, čuječnost, preprečevanje stresa, spolne motnje, kronična bolečina, Multiple sclerosis mindfulness, stress reduction, sexual dysfunction, chronic pain have been used in Slovenian and English language. 17 articles were included in the final analysis. Results: Mindfulness has an effect on improving mental health, reducing experiences of stress, depression, anxiety, and pain. It improves mental distress, attention, self-compassion, acceptance, adaptation to change, coping with stress, lowers cortisol and quality of life. It has a positive effect on sexual problems (desire for sex and arousal), helps him with negative thoughts about himself and improves all other aspects of sexual functions. In the research, the mindfulness program was enjoyable to the participants and was well received and would be recommended to others. Disscussion and conclusion: Research findings confirm that the inclusion of mindfulness in people with MS is effective. It has a positive effect on their daily coping with MS symptoms and thus makes it easier for them to perform daily activities.
