Today, measuring the functioning of public administration and classifying individual countries plays an important role in the forming of public policies and guidelines for further work. In my bachelor’s thesis, I focused on the analysis of Slovenia's placement in the areas related to public administration in international comparisons. The development of public administration is connected to historical milestones and, at the same time, represents also a response to the growing expectations of citizens and companies regarding the quality of public administration services. Through the review of the development of the Slovenian public administration, we get an insight into the trends that the Slovenian public administration follows, as well as an insight into the results so far. In addition to well-set goals and strategies, an important factor in the success of public administration reforms is also political support which has recently been lacking in Slovenia. Measuring public administration is not the simplest because there are concerns about data collection, methods of measuring public administration, and the validity of indicators. Measurement is carried out by various international consulting organizations and also academic institutions.
Based on the trend analysis of the Slovenian public administration in the last five years, we find that it has made progress on some international scales. Contribution of the diploma thesis could, based on the findings, help in the analysis of the achieved goals of the Public Administration Development Strategy 2015-2020.
