Digital media are increasingly shaping and taking over our everyday lives. Thus, our homes are becoming media-saturated environments in which children are exposed to the media as well. A lot of research has focused on adolescents in relation to the media, however the fact that the first contact with the media occurs at an early age can not be ignored. In early childhood, it is the parents, who draw important steps towards the media involvment of their preschool children with their media preferences. The field of media consumption of preschool children and parental mediation is poorly researched, and, thus, it is important to recognise and address this aspect. Researching the media use of preschool children, parents' attitudes to media and their mediation is performed with a qualitative research method – semi-structured interviews.
