Abstract

Title:The Impact of the Coronavirus Crisis on Stress and Depression in the Workplace
Abstract:
Stress and depression represent one of the most common problems that occur in a workplace environment. With the emergence of the Coronavirus crisis, stress and depression levels have now only grown in many if not all workplaces. Taking care of one’s health has become a priority in a time of a pandemic, and it, subsequently, influences the increase of responsibility in work environments. In some places, this influence can also be seen in poorer organisational surroundings and relationships with work superiors. The crucial elements are to acknowledge the effects of the pandemic, adjust to the changes it brings, and establish a sincere communication strategy between the staff and the management. The latter, in particular, is important for constructing clear-cut tasks and a well-organised work routine. In my research, I used a survey questionnaire to find out how the Coronavirus crisis has affected the levels of stress in industrial businesses. I then compared these stress levels among different job positions in said establishments. I was also interested in identifying the influence of various factors on individual levels of stress and the methods that the employees use to reduce stress in the workplace. The paper also includes possible solutions which the company/companies may incorporate to reduce stress in the employees.
