Abstract

Title:The Heart of Jesus the center of incarnation and reconciliation: The heart in Strle's anthropology and Christology : magistrsko delo
Abstract:
In the present Master's thesis, the author presents the role and significance of the Heart of Jesus as a central point in the incarnation of Christ and his atoning sacrifice on the cross. The author shows the internal connection of these two events in three key steps. In the first chapter, based on Greek philosophy, the author defines the concept of the heart from a human point of view and shows its role and understanding, first in Greek philosophy and then also from a biblical point of view, where the author relies on the narrative of the creation of man. It also presents some key concepts in the Old and New Testaments, which define or described the reality of the heart. This is followed by a brief overview of the development of the concept of the heart, in theology, where the author shows the transition to the concept of person and the role of godliness. In the second chapter, the author upgrades the understanding of the heart, through reflecting on the incarnation of Christ. The author shows that from a human point of view, the concept of the heart cannot be applied to the Hypostatic Union and shows how Christ transcends the human concept of the heart in his incarnation. The third chapter focuses on Jesus' atoning sacrifice on the cross, where the author shows the importance of Jesus' mediation in his incarnation and atoning sacrifice, and shows their inner connection. Comparing Christ's sacrifice with the celebration of the Day of Atonement, shows Christ's transcendence and the novelty it brings. Finally, it shows the significance of the moment of the pierced Heart of Jesus. The concluding chapter, builds on previous conclusions, and shows the role and importance of the devotion to the Heart of Jesus and the central role it plays through the consecrating of oneself to the Heart of Jesus and by extension, the place it will play in the revitalization of the Church in Slovenia.
