The bachelor’s thesis presents the importance of factors and activities in the home environment that have a positive effect on a child's linguistic competence.
In the first part, the development of a child's speech is shown according to the theoretical milestones; this is followed by a concise presentation of internal and external factors of a child's speech development and, in connection with this, a presentation of Basil Bernstein's theory. In the core part, I defined in more detail the external factors and activities in the home environment that positively contribute to a child's speech competence in the early and late period of development.
The empirical part includes a presentation of Slovenian and foreign research findings in connection with the education of parents, which is, according to many authors, one of the most important factors in the home environment contributing to a child's speech development.
