The basis of my thesis is Ljubljana. As its inhabitant, I have formed different views of the city and with them, new possibilities for its visual outline have opened up. I show Ljubljana through a series of personal writings and graphics, intertwined in the form of two different artist books. These serve as a personal and lyrical guide through the paths of the city that I know like the back of my hand. In the analytical research, I deal with an artist book in all its forms and with all its characteristics, especially through the prism of three currently working authors from this field. At the same time, I search for parallels with genres of city guides and periodical publications. Can these three genres be complementary? I am interested in their connections and possible intersections that lead into the creation of a new piece of work. I also place the artistic graphic and types of print, especially the technique of high print into historical context. High print is namely the basic medium of expression in my thesis. The practical part of the project is represented by two artist books with the title L kot Ljubljana (L as Ljubljana). It is a copyright work that intertwines the elements of an artist book, a city guide and a periodical publication. The concept lies in the intersection, which offers an exciting middle space where you can find the artist book in a different way. The main points of interest are the physical form of the book, a connection of visual content and the transfer of all of those onto the viewer.
