Migrations have a long history. People have always moved in search of better opportunities and lives. The reasons for moving are different. One of the reasons people move is war. In fear of war, people are forced to leave their homeland and seek refuge in safer countries.
As a resident of Velika Kladuša, which has become a transit area for many migrants in the last few years, I have witnessed the growing suffering and difficult situations that people encounter on the way every day. This is neglect and insufficient work of the state authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries, which should more strictly respect human rights, in particular the right to international protection. On the other hand, I am witnessing the charity of the local population towards immigrants. In the research, I found a variety of responses from the residents of Velika Kladuša: some show solidarity with migrants and help them, while others try to prevent the help of their fellow citizens.
The aim of the master's thesis is to investigate the charity of the people of Velika Kladuša towards migrants, in conversations with individuals who have been in contact with migrants, to find out what situations those who help migrants find themselves in, and what are the attempts of individuals to reduce this charity.
