Abstract

Title:
The Kontas on the Jelovica and the Pokljuka Plateaus
Abstract:
The purpose of this research was a geomorphological analysis of the kontas on the Pokljuka and the Jelovica plateaus and their morphogenetic and morphodynamic interpretation. Based on the literature review and the field work it is concluded that the kontas are not a typical glaciokarst landform, as they occur in the areas where glaciation did not take place. The kontas can be classified into two types: periglacial and subglacial kontas. The periglacial kontas have no glacial traces in them. The subglacial kontas are located in the areas that were covered and transformed by the glaciers. The subglacial kontas can be divided into three subtypes based on the glacier equilibrium line.
