In my master's thesis I continue my research in the field of drugs and addiction in the Municipality of Idrija and its surroundings. In the theoretical introduction, I focus on social work in the field of addiction, describing theories of needs, community, social capital, the community approach, harm reduction in the field of illicit drugs and, briefly, fieldwork and prevention.
As I have already explored the local drug scene in my thesis, this time I have explored users' lives, their social networks, society's perception of drugs and drug users and the risks of drug use. I have focused on the supply and demand for services in this area.
In the thesis, we learn about the lives of the users I have worked with, what is important to them, their attitudes to health, where and who they go to when they need help, and what kind of help they want and need. The interviews with experts who have expressed their views on drug services are also of great value.
