Abstract

Title:Improving participation in child with behavioral problems : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: a child with a sensory integration disorder finds it difficult to understand what is going on inside and outside his body, as his central nervous system does not process sensoy inflows more successfully. These sensory informations from the environment often motivates them, sometimes they dont perceive them at all or they may look for certain stimulations that direct them to form behaviors that are different or unacceptable to their environment. Purpose: the purpose of this study is to use the data decision making model as help in researching the reasons for inappropriate patterns of child behavior and findings in the areas of sensory processing that occur in motor sensory integrations. Methods: in this diploma work, we used a case study based on a seven year old girl with difficulties in processing sensory inflows. We used data driven decision making model. The model contains a sequence of organized steps: identifying the child's strengths in the challenges of participation, conducting a comprehensive assessment, formulating hypotheses, setting goals, defining instruments for checking outcomes, a treatment plan, conducting treatment to verify results, and monitoring progress. Results: The girl made the most progress in sitting at a desk, much less frequent impulsive behavior, more hours of success at the desk in school lessons and performing school assignments. She made less progress in learning to write letters, learning to tie laces, and brushing her teeth. Discussion and conclusion: Data driven decision making model is a method that is indvidually adapted to children and, if necessary, it changes during the treatment.
