Abstract
V diplomski nalogi obravnavamo tematiko varnosti v ladijski strojnici (v nadaljevanju LS), saj je empirično dokazano, da je najboljša oblika preventive pred nesrečami prav znanje oziroma predhodna seznanjenost s potencialno rizičnimi situacijami in njihovimi indikatorji. Namen te diplomske naloge je predstaviti nepredvidljivo okolje sodobne LS, navesti nekatere pasivne in aktivne ukrepe, ki se izvajajo za vzpostavitev čim višje stopnje varnosti, ter našteti nekaj človeku zelo nevarnih situacij, značilnih za okolje LS. Tri najbolj rizične situacije tudi obravnavamo s pomočjo poročil MAIB, in sicer z vzročno-posledičnega vidika; poudarjene so predvsem tehnična plat nesreče ter ugotovitve izvedencev za preiskave pomorskih nesreč. V diplomski nalogi podrobneje obravnavamo naslednje tri konkretne rizične situacije v LS: – eksplozija v bloku motorja, – električni udar, – požar.

Title:HAZARD AWARENESS IN THE ENGINE ROOM
Abstract:
In the diploma thesis we discuss the topic of safety in the ship's engine room (hereinafter ER), as it is empirically proven that the best form of accident prevention is knowledge or prior knowledge of potentially risky situations and their indicators. The purpose of this diploma thesis is to present the unpredictable environment of modern ER, to list some passive and active measures taken to establish the highest possible level of safety, and to list some very dangerous situations typical of the ER environment. The three most risky situations are also addressed with the help of MAIB reports, namely from a cause-and-effect point of view; emphasis is placed on the technical side of the accident and the findings of experts in maritime accident investigations. In the diploma thesis we discuss in more detail the following three concrete risk situations in the ER: ⠒ explosion in the engine block, ⠒ electric shock, ⠒ fire.
