This paper focuses on the expression of equality in the case of gender and social position in the interpersonal metafunction in the orthography chapters of the multimodal textbooks for Slovene as a mother tongue from 1st to 5th grade published since 1945. Since the revision of the curriculum for Slovene (1998), authors more often express both genders in the language. More obvious is the choice of pictures with female and male characters, which are shown equally. In general, they avoid exposing the social position of the addressee.
