Safety culture is a part of organizational culture and is reflected in the approach or attitude, beliefs and values of employees to safety in the work environment. Its goal is to ensure safety and health at work, which is key to reducing accidents in laboratories. Because laboratories are inherently dangerous work environments, it is important to maintain a high level of safety culture that needs to be nurtured in students as soon as possible. In the diploma work we used a descriptive or descriptive research method. This includes a review of foreign professional literature and a questionnaire. We examined the level of safety culture among students in Europe, America and China by reviewing foreign professional literature, and the attitude towards safety culture among students at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology with a questionnaire. The questionnaire was sent to students of all undergraduate and master's degrees at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the University of Ljubljana via Studis. We mainly investigated the differences in the attitude towards safety culture between undergraduate and master's degree students, and we also investigated the differences between individual study programs in exposure to various substances.
We found that there are differences between the two levels. Master's degree students are usually more exposed to hazardous substances than undergraduate students. In addition to differences in degree, there are differences in study programs in exposure. Students of chemistry, biochemistry and chemical engineering are exposed to more dangerous substances. The final results show a positive attitude of students towards safety culture and indicate a well-established safety culture, which is reflected in the knowledge and implementation of protective measures, compliance with laboratory rules and responsible behavior of students. Differences also occur in the level of security culture in Europe, America, and China. A review of the literature shows that the lowest level of security culture is in China, but it cannot be strictly determined for Europe and America.
